Ladder Awareness

This course is best suited to people who use ladders or stepladders at work, as well as supervisors and health and safety personnel who oversee that work. It is particularly relevant in industrial and operational environments where workers need to recognise ladder risks early and use access equipment safely.

Workers using ladders as part of their job need the appropriate information, instruction, training, and supervision to work safely. The level of training required depends on the task, the environment, and the risks involved, but workplaces still need to ensure workers are competent to use ladders safely and correctly.

There are no formal prerequisites for this course. The training is most relevant for people who use ladders or stepladders as part of their work.

The course runs for half a day. That time is used to cover ladder hazards, inspection, positioning, and safe access and exit techniques.

The course covers the fundamentals of safe ladder and stepladder use in the workplace. It includes ladder hazards, pre-use ladder inspection, correct positioning, safe access and egress, and the practical behaviours that help reduce fall risk.

IMPAC recommends refresher training at least every two years to help workers maintain safe ladder use practices and awareness of common access risks. Refresher training may also be appropriate where ladder use is frequent, site conditions change, equipment or procedures are updated, or following incidents or near misses.

Yes, this course is available for in-house delivery nationwide. In-house training allows learners to complete the course in the context of the work tasks and ladder use situations they deal with in their own workplace.

In-house: $1700 + GST for up to 12 persons, with additional persons charged at $140 + GST each (maximum of 14).
