Changes to Work at Heights Training in 2026

What are the changes?

  • Each unit standard is now a separate course.
  • WAH training can no longer cover multiple unit standards in either a 1-day or 2-day course.
  • Training is split into learning modules for each unit standard.
  • There will be more focus on practical application.
  • Training is aligned to the learning your workers need.

What are the unit standards?

US23229 (L3, C4) Basic Heights – Harness Training

  • Use safety harness system when working at height
  • “Basic” training, in-person
  • 1 day course

US15757 (L3, C4) Height Safety Systems

  • Use, install and disestablish temporary proprietary height safety systems when working at height
  • “Advanced” training, in-person 1 day course
  • Can be scheduled as Day 2 training, following US23229 on Day 1

US17600 (L3, C3) Safe Working at Heights

  • Explain safe work practices for working at heights
  • In-person 1 day course or self paced eLearning module

US25045 (L3, C4) Employ height safety equipment in the workplace

  • In-person, 1 day course, theory and practical
  • Only available on site in your workplace environment

What course do I book for “Basic” or introductory Heights training?

US23229 Basic Heights – Harness Training

  • In-person training at IMPAC or as inhouse training at your worksite

What course do I book for more Advanced Heights training?

US15757 Height Safety Systems

  • In-person training at IMPAC or as inhouse training at your worksite
  • (note: US23229 is a pre-requisite, plus ideally learners have some industry experience)
  • IMPAC public courses for Height Safety Systems US15757 are scheduled consecutively with US23229 training
    (i.e. 2 day block of training)

How do I book Work at Heights training on IMPAC’s website?

  • Filter by course or location or date
  • To book “Advanced” Heights training (US23229 and US15757) on consecutive days, start by booking on Basic Heights – Harness Safety. At the bottom of page 1 of the booking form, select “add another course to this booking”. Simply select the Height Safety Systems course at the same location, on the next day.

What about WAH Refresher training?

  • Work at Heights Refresher training remains unchanged – it is designed to refresh the knowledge of students for the unit standards they already hold.
  • Refresher training should be undertaken every two years.
  • This training is available through in-person public courses (4 hours) or via self-paced eLearning.
