Overview

Permit Issuer Refresher (Pre-recorded Webinar) course overview

Over time, issuing permits can become routine. After signing off multiple permits, it’s easy to slip into the motions, particularly as work pressure builds and risk fatigue sets in. For high-risk activities, this can significantly increase the risk of harm. This pre-recorded Permit Issuer Refresher webinar reinforces the knowledge and understanding required to maintain a consistent and effective approach to issuing permits.

Refreshing skills isn’t about simply revisiting theory. This pre-recorded webinar focuses on reinforcing key elements of the permit to work process in a clear and practical way. It revisits worksite preparation, issuing, monitoring, and closing permits, along with understanding responsibilities when issuing on behalf of the PCBU, and when additional controls are required for high-risk activities such as hot work, confined space entry, working at height, and excavation.

IMPAC’s focus is on reinforcing practical capability so individuals can maintain a consistent and disciplined approach to permit issuing. Participants step back into the workplace equipped to apply the permit to work system with greater confidence, consistency, and attention to detail.

Curriculum

What you'll cover

This course is designed for:
  • People who already hold Unit Standard 17590 and need to refresh how they identify permit requirements, prepare worksites, and verify controls before high-risk work starts.

Our approach

+IMPAC's Permit Issuer Refresher (Pre-recorded Webinar) training approach

IMPAC uses this Permit Issuer Refresher (Pre-recorded Webinar) to bring experienced learners back to the parts of permit issuing that matter most in real work. The training revisits when a permit is required, what needs to be checked before work starts, how controls are verified, and how permits should be monitored, closed, and audited once the job is underway or complete.

Because this is refresher training, the emphasis stays on practical judgement rather than starting from scratch. Learners work back through permit-to-work activities linked to hot work, confined space entry, work at height, and excavation, so the content stays connected to the decisions permit issuers are expected to make on site.

The webinar keeps the focus on maintaining consistent permit standards, strengthening control checks, and recognising where routine work pressures can weaken permit discipline over time.
