Permit Issuer Refresher

IMPAC delivers this refresher as a practical reset for experienced permit issuers. Instead of only revisiting theory, the course goes back to the real decisions that sit behind a permit-to-work system: what needs to be checked before a permit is issued, whether the worksite is genuinely ready, what controls must be confirmed, and what can go wrong when permit steps start being treated as routine.

Learners work through a permit scenario, guided discussion, activities, and practical examples linked to high-risk work. That includes reviewing how permits are authorised, monitored, and closed properly, along with how auditing helps identify gaps before they lead to exposure. The focus stays on maintaining consistent permit standards, questioning weak controls, and applying the permit process carefully in day-to-day operations.

If you’re continuing your learning journey in health and safety, the unit standards you already hold can contribute towards IMPAC’s Certificate in Applied Workplace Health and Safety Practices (Level 3), which leads to the New Zealand Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety Practice (Level 3).
