Unit Standards being refreshed:
| Unit # | Name | Level | Credits |

| 18496 | Demonstrate knowledge and skills for driving a forklift on a road for endorsement F | 3 | 2 |
This refresher course helps forklift operators maintain compliance with industry certification standards. It updates learners on new legislation, addresses knowledge gaps, and emphasises driver safety and safe practices. Learners operate in line with the approved Code of Practice for Powered Industrial Lift Trucks (1995).
The VR simulation offers consistent and objective evaluations, exposing learners to scenarios that are otherwise impossible to replicate safely.

Forklift Refresher course overview
Curriculum
What you'll cover
- Experienced forklift operators who need to refresh safe operating practice and maintain day-to-day competence in the workplace.
- Workers in warehousing, construction, manufacturing, and logistics environments where forklifts are used regularly.
- Supervisors or team leaders overseeing forklift operations who need a clearer understanding of current safe operating expectations and operator responsibilities.
- Organisations wanting operators to revisit pre-operational checks, safe load handling, road-driving requirements, and shutdown procedures before unsafe habits develop.
Our approach
+IMPAC's Forklift Refresher training approach
This course is delivered as a practical refresher, not a box-ticking review of old notes. Facilitators guide learners through the operating decisions that matter most on the job, using discussion, worked examples, structured practice, and VR simulation to revisit what safe forklift operation looks like in real workplaces.
The session focuses on the points where standards can slip over time: pre-operational inspections, load handling, lifting and stacking, hazard awareness, parking, shutdown, and the extra care needed when a forklift is driven on a road under an F endorsement. The VR simulator gives learners a consistent way to test judgement and decision-making in operating situations that would be difficult, impractical, or unsafe to recreate live before moving back into practical forklift operation.

This course assesses workers to confirm that they are effectively applying the knowledge and skills they have been trained in or have acquired in the workplace.

Advanced Wheels, Track and Rollers
This course enables learners to describe special-type roller, tracked and wheeled vehicles and the legal requirements relating to driving these vehicles on a road. Learners also describe driving procedures and general considerations for driving a special-type roller, tracked or wheeled vehicle safely on a road; and demonstrate procedures for driving a special-type roller, tracked or wheeled vehicle safely and legally on a road.
