Overview

Permit Receiver Refresher (Pre-recorded Webinar) course overview

Over time, working under permits can become routine. After completing similar work repeatedly, it can be easy to fall into an “I’ve done this before” mindset and not fully consider the specific task or changing conditions, where the consequences can be devastating. This pre-recorded Permit Receiver Refresher webinar reinforces the knowledge and understanding required to maintain a consistent and effective approach to working under a permit.

Refreshing skills isn’t about simply revisiting theory. Instead, this pre-recorded webinar revisits key elements of the permit to work process in a clear and practical way. It reinforces how to prepare for work, understand permit conditions, verify critical controls, and recognise when conditions have changed. The course also reinforces communication requirements and when additional controls are required for high-risk activities such as hot work, confined space entry, working at height, and excavation.

IMPAC’s focus is on reinforcing practical capability so workers can safely carry out their tasks under a permit. Participants step back into the workplace equipped to apply permit conditions with greater awareness, recognise when work should not proceed, and ensure work is carried out safely.

Curriculum

What you'll cover

This course is designed for:
  • People who already hold Unit Standard 17588 and need to refresh how they receive permits, confirm controls, and work safely under permit conditions during high-risk activities.

Our approach

+IMPAC's Permit Receiver Refresher (Pre-recorded Webinar) training approach

IMPAC delivers this Permit Receiver Refresher (Pre-recorded Webinar) as a practical reset for people who already work under permits and need to keep their judgement sharp. Rather than reteaching the topic in abstract terms, the webinar revisits the points where permit work can break down in real workplaces: confirming the scope of work, checking that controls are in place, understanding what the permit actually authorises, and recognising when conditions have changed.

Learners work back through the role of the permit receiver using clear examples tied to high-risk tasks such as hot work, confined space entry, working at height, and excavation. The focus stays on what needs to be checked, what needs to be communicated, what needs to be documented, and when work should pause instead of carrying on out of habit.
