Overview

NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety course overview

The NEBOSH International General Certificate is recognised globally as a leading health and safety course and provides a comprehensive, in-depth learning experience for those looking to build real capability in managing workplace health and safety. This 10-day course provides a strong foundation in health and safety management, equipping learners with the skills to manage risks, influence workplace culture, and support organisational performance.

As a NEBOSH Gold Learning Partner, IMPAC has been delivering NEBOSH courses since 2008 and has supported over 1,000 graduates through their learning journey. Our programme combines international best practice with a strong understanding of the New Zealand business environment and can contribute towards NZISM Practitioner membership, alongside other requirements.

We don’t rely on dry, lecture-only delivery. Instead, our experienced facilitators run interactive sessions that include activities, discussions, and opportunities to apply learning to real workplace situations. Learners are supported by tutors throughout the course, with guidance provided as they work through key areas such as risk assessment, incident investigation, and health and safety management systems.

IMPAC’s focus is on developing professionals who can apply their knowledge in practice. Participants leave with a NEBOSH certificate, a high-quality reference textbook, and the confidence to assess risk, advise on safety responsibilities, and contribute to effective health and safety management systems.

Our approach

+IMPAC's NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety training approach

This course is delivered using a block-course approach that gives learners time to balance study with work and personal commitments while building their understanding progressively across the course. Facilitators use guided discussion, worked examples, group activities, practical scenarios, and assessment preparation exercises to help learners connect health and safety concepts to the kinds of decisions made in real workplaces.

Group learning and tutor support are a strong part of the experience throughout the course. Learners are encouraged to ask questions, test ideas, and learn from the experiences of others while working through topics such as contractor management, incident investigation, risk assessment, and safe systems of work. Tutors support learners as they build confidence with both the course content and the assessment requirements, helping keep the learning practical, applied, and relevant to real workplace situations.
