Overview

Fire Warden course overview

Treating a fire drill like an excuse to stand in the car park for ten minutes does little to prepare people for a real emergency. When an alarm sounds, wardens need to understand their role, act with confidence, and be prepared to lead others to evacuate safely. This half-day Fire Warden course is designed for those appointed as fire wardens, as well as team leaders and managers who may take on that role.

This is not just about meeting a compliance requirement. Our industry-experienced trainers guide learners through the key elements of emergency response, including evacuation requirements, communication, and coordination. Participants develop a clear understanding of their role, how to manage fire drills, and how to communicate effectively during an evacuation, as well as how to identify potential fire hazards and liaise with emergency services when they arrive on site.

IMPAC’s focus is on building capable people who can lead and support evacuations in a calm and effective way. Participants leave with a clear understanding of their responsibilities, the confidence to take action when it matters, and access to an IMPAC pocket guide to support them in their role. They step back into the workplace ready to apply their skills in an emergency to support safe, well-managed evacuations.

Curriculum

What you'll cover

This course is designed for:

  • People who have been designated as fire wardens in their workplace.
  • Team leaders, supervisors, and managers who may need to lead or support an evacuation.
  • HR professionals involved in workplace safety training and emergency preparedness.
  • Organisations in sectors such as hospitality, healthcare, education, manufacturing, and office environments where clear evacuation roles matter.

Our approach

+IMPAC's Fire Warden training approach

+IMPAC delivers this training in a practical, workplace-focused way so learners can connect their fire warden responsibilities to what actually happens when an alarm sounds. The session combines clear guidance on evacuation duties with discussion, realistic scenarios, and examples of the communication and decision-making challenges wardens can face during drills and real emergencies.

Learners work through what good fire warden practice looks like on site, including how to support an orderly evacuation, what to check during a sweep, how to communicate clearly under pressure, and how to liaise with emergency services when they arrive. The focus is on helping people leave with a usable understanding of their role, not just a list of rules.
