Overview

Workplace First Aid - Level 1 course overview

Having a first aid certificate filed away doesn’t help if someone is injured or becomes unwell and no one knows what to do next. In an emergency, hesitation or uncertainty can make a situation more difficult. This Workplace First Aid – Level 1 course is designed to give learners the essential skills and confidence to respond to common workplace and community emergencies.
 
We don’t rely on lecture-style training. Our industry-experienced instructors guide learners through practical, scenario-based activities that reflect real situations. Participants develop the skills to assess an incident, manage hazards, and provide first aid for injuries and sudden illness. The course includes CPR and AED use, managing choking, controlling bleeding, and recognising common medical conditions such as asthma, seizures, and stroke. Learners practise applying the DRSABCD approach and responding appropriately until professional help arrives.
 
IMPAC’s focus is on building capable people who can step in and provide first aid when it matters. Participants leave with a clear understanding of how to respond safely, provide initial care, and support better outcomes for those involved. Your team steps back into the workplace or community with the confidence to act and provide assistance when needed.

Our approach

+IMPAC's Workplace First Aid - Level 1 training approach

This training is delivered as practical first aid learning, not a theory-heavy session. Facilitators use guided discussion, demonstrations, and realistic workplace and community scenarios so learners can practise how to assess an incident, make the area as safe as possible, and decide what to do next under pressure.
 
Across the day, participants work through CPR, AED use, choking response, bleeding control, and responses to common medical emergencies. The focus is on helping people apply first aid calmly and clearly in the kinds of situations they are most likely to face, so the learning feels useful the moment they are back at work or supporting others in the community.
