This course enhances first aid skills and keeps learners up-to-date with the latest practices. It is ideal for refreshing knowledge and revalidating Workplace First Aid certification. Learners are required to refresh their first aid training every two years. If a certificate is older than two years and three months, a full course is necessary to maintain compliance.

This course aligns with WorkSafe NZ guidelines for workplace first aid, ensuring learners receive current and relevant training.

First Aid Refresher course overview

First aid is a critical skill—but would you be confident relying on training you completed years ago? Skills can fade over time, and in an emergency, hesitation or uncertainty can make it harder to respond effectively. This First Aid Refresher course is designed to help learners maintain their confidence and capability to provide first aid in the workplace or community.
 
We don’t rely on lecture-style refreshers that simply revisit theory. Our industry-experienced instructors guide learners back through the key elements of first aid using practical, scenario-based activities. Participants refresh their ability to assess an incident, manage hazards, perform CPR, and operate an AED. The course also revisits how to respond to common injuries and medical conditions, ensuring knowledge is current and aligned with New Zealand guidelines.
 
IMPAC’s focus is on supporting learners to maintain a consistent, high-quality approach to first aid. Participants leave with a refreshed understanding of their responsibilities, the confidence to respond appropriately, and the knowledge required to provide effective care until help arrives. Your team steps back into the workplace with refreshed skills and the confidence that, should the worst happen, they are equipped to step in and help.

What you'll cover

This course is designed for:
  • Learners who already hold NZQA Unit Standards 6400, 6401, and 6402 and need to refresh their first aid skills and revalidate workplace first aid capability.

Our approach

+IMPAC's First Aid Refresher training approach

This refresher is delivered as practical training rather than a theory-only recap. Facilitators take learners back through the core steps of workplace first aid using realistic scenarios, guided discussion, and hands-on practice so people can test their response under pressure and rebuild confidence where skills may have become rusty.

Across the session, learners work through incident assessment, scene and hazard management, CPR, AED use, and responses to common injuries and sudden illness. The focus stays on refreshing technique, judgement, and calm decision-making so participants are ready to provide effective care until further help arrives.
