Yes. This qualification is delivered through online distance learning. Learners are supported with online learning materials, live webinars, activities, and tutor guidance throughout the programme. This allows learners to work towards the qualification while maintaining access to structured support and scheduled learning opportunities.

The course takes between 18 months and 5 years to complete. That timeframe reflects the self-paced structure of the qualification and the flexibility learners need to balance study alongside professional and personal commitments.

The programme is designed to be completed alongside full-time work and requires a significant commitment to self-directed learning. During each five-month unit, learners participate in scheduled webinars and direct learning activities while completing readings, eLearning modules, workplace-based activities, and assessment preparation.

As a guide, learners should allow around 14 hours of self-directed study per week throughout the unit, along with additional revision and assessment preparation before each assessment window.

Learners are supported throughout the programme. IMPAC provides tutor support, online learning resources, webinars, and structured learning activities. Additional support options are also available for learners with learning difficulties, physical impairments, cultural needs, or other individual requirements.

The qualification is assessed through three workplace-based assessment units:

• Unit DI1 – Assignment (approximately 40 hours of assessment time)
• Unit DI2 – Case Study (approximately 20 hours of assessment time)
• Unit DI3 – Case Study (approximately 20 hours of assessment time)

These assessments are designed to confirm learners can apply occupational health and safety management knowledge to realistic workplace situations and organisational scenarios.

Yes, the qualification is assessed across DI1, DI2, and DI3. Learners should expect the assessment process to be managed alongside their study programme, with extra assessment information and resources available through IMPAC’s learning system and NEBOSH guidance.

IMPAC offers one intake for each Diploma unit each year. Learners can enrol into the next available intake for the unit they wish to complete, with programme dates and enrolment deadlines published in the schedule above. Each unit includes two assessment opportunities during the year.
