Working in Thermal Extremes course overview

Telling your crew to “just drink more water” in the heat or “layer up” in the cold may be part of the solution, but it isn’t a sufficient risk management plan on its own. When extreme conditions are treated as something workers can simply “tough out,” the physical strain on the body is often underestimated, and without the right controls in place, it can quickly impact health and performance. This one-day Working in Thermal Extremes course is designed to give learners the knowledge required to work safely in hot and cold environments.
 
We don’t do “death by PowerPoint.” Our experienced trainers guide learners through the key elements of working in thermal extremes in a practical and engaging way. Participants develop an understanding of how the body regulates temperature, how heat and cold stress develop, and how to assess the thermal environment. The course focuses on recognising early signs of strain, applying controls to eliminate, isolate, or minimise risk, and planning work effectively in extreme conditions.
 
IMPAC’s focus is on helping learners understand the limits of the human body and how to manage them in the workplace. Participants leave with a clear understanding of how to assess thermal conditions, apply practical controls, and plan work safely in extreme environments.
