Overview

Permit Issuer (Pre-recorded Webinar) course overview

Permit issuers play a critical role in ensuring that high-risk activities are carried out safely. If the work is not properly understood, prepared, or controlled, the potential consequences can be devastating. This pre-recorded Permit Issuer webinar builds the knowledge and understanding required to ensure work is properly planned, authorised, and carried out safely.

We don’t rely on text-heavy content. Instead, this pre-recorded webinar focuses on reinforcing key elements of the permit to work process in a clear and practical way. Learners develop an understanding of how to assess worksite readiness, confirm the need for a permit, apply appropriate controls, and recognise when additional measures are required for high-risk activities such as hot work, confined space entry, working at height, and excavation.

IMPAC’s focus is on building practical capability so individuals can confidently carry out the responsibilities of a permit issuer. Participants step back into the workplace equipped to issue permits with clarity, apply appropriate controls, and ensure work is carried out safely.

Curriculum

What you'll cover

This course is designed for:
  • Workers, supervisors, and authorised personnel who issue permits to work on behalf of their PCBU.
  • People responsible for confirming worksite conditions, controls, and permit requirements before high-risk work begins.
  • Individuals who already understand risk assessment and need stronger permit-to-work capability in day-to-day operations.
  • Teams working around higher-risk activities such as hot work, confined space entry, working at height, and excavation.

Our approach

+IMPAC's Permit Issuer (Pre-recorded Webinar) training approach

This Permit Issuer (Pre-recorded Webinar) is delivered in a clear, practical format that helps learners work through the decisions a permit issuer needs to make before work starts, while work is underway, and when a permit is closed out. Rather than overwhelming people with policy language, the training breaks the permit-to-work process into the key checks, control decisions, and sign-off responsibilities that matter in real workplaces.

Learners work through examples and a permit scenario linked to high-risk activities, including hot work, confined space entry, work at height, and excavation. The focus stays on recognising what needs to be in place, spotting gaps before work begins, and understanding when additional controls are needed so permits are issued carefully and consistently.
