This pre-recorded webinar refreshes learners about Job Safety Analysis (JSA) including how to assess tasks, identify potential hazards, and determine the safest approach to completing them, helping to prevent injuries.

Overview

Job Safety Analysis Refresher (Pre-recorded Webinar) course overview

When you’ve completed hundreds of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), it’s easy to slip into going through the motions. Risk fatigue sets in, tasks become routine, and hazards that should stand out are missed. This pre-recorded JSA Refresher webinar is designed for anyone involved in operations and maintenance who needs to revisit and strengthen their approach to carrying out JSAs for new and existing tasks.

We focus on practical outcomes, not dry lectures. This pre-recorded webinar guides learners through the JSA process, reinforcing key concepts such as the difference between hazards and risks, and how tasks should be properly broken down and assessed. Participants revisit how to analyse tasks step by step, consider the work environment, and apply appropriate risk control measures, including the hierarchy of controls, to ensure risks are consistently managed.

IMPAC’s focus is on supporting learners to maintain a consistent, high-quality approach to Job Safety Analysis. Participants finish the course with a refreshed understanding of how to complete and use JSAs effectively, ready to apply their skills with greater awareness and ensure hazards are identified and controls are applied every time.

Curriculum

What you'll cover

This course is designed for:

  • Workers in operations and maintenance roles who complete JSAs for new or existing tasks.
  • Team leaders, supervisors, and frontline coordinators who need a consistent approach to task-level hazard identification and control selection.
  • Learners who already hold Unit Standard 19522 and want to refresh how they break work into steps, assess risk, and document safe ways of working.
  • Organisations that want refresher training to help keep JSA practice current, practical, and consistent across the workplace.

Our approach

+IMPAC's Job Safety Analysis Refresher (Pre-recorded Webinar) training approach

This refresher is built to help learners revisit JSA practice in a way that feels useful on the job, not theoretical. The training walks back through task breakdown, hazard identification, risk assessment, and control selection step by step, using practical workplace scenarios and examples that reflect the kind of decisions people make in operations and maintenance settings.

Learners revisit the difference between hazards and risks, how work method statements and safe operating procedures connect back to a sound JSA, and where routine work can lead to missed controls or weak assumptions. The focus is on helping people slow down, think clearly about the job in front of them, and apply the hierarchy of controls in a way that stands up in real workplaces.
