No, this refresher does not award a new NZQA unit standard. It is designed for learners who already hold Unit Standard 19522 and need to refresh how they carry out and review job safety analyses in the workplace.
Learners refresh how to break a task into steps, identify hazards, assess risks, and apply control measures using the hierarchy of controls. The course also revisits work method statements and safe operating procedures so JSA processes continue to support practical and effective work planning.
IMPAC recommends that learners complete JSA refresher training at least every two years to maintain their ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and apply effective controls during work planning. Some clients, sites, or industry requirements may require more frequent refresher training, particularly where tasks, equipment, or workplace risks change. NZQA unit standards do not expire from a learner’s Record of Achievement.
Learners who pass the refresher assessment will receive an updated IMPAC Certificate of Competency covering the Job Safety Analysis unit standard they currently hold. The refresher reinforces practical JSA processes used to identify hazards and manage task-based risks in the workplace.
