Overview

Hearing Conservation course overview

Telling your crew to “just put your earmuffs on” and hoping for the best isn’t a risk management plan. Hearing damage from workplace noise is gradual and often invisible, which means it can go unnoticed until the effects are permanent. This half-day Hearing Conservation course is designed to give learners the knowledge required to identify noise hazards and protect their hearing in the workplace.
 
We don’t rely on dry, lecture-style training. Instead, we focus on building a clear understanding of how noise impacts hearing and how exposure can be managed in real work environments. Our industry-experienced trainers guide learners through how sound intensity is measured, the hearing comfort zone, and the causes of hearing impairment. Participants develop an understanding of how to select and use hearing protection correctly, assess whether current controls are effective, and apply practical measures that reduce exposure on site.
 
IMPAC’s focus is on helping learners understand the risks associated with workplace noise and how to manage them effectively. Participants leave with a clear understanding of hearing protection requirements and how to apply practical controls to reduce exposure. IMPAC delivers this course in a practical, discussion-led format that helps learners make sense of workplace noise before it becomes long-term harm. The training uses clear explanations, trainer-led examples, and guided scenarios to show how noise hazards arise, how hearing damage happens over time, and what good hearing protection looks like in day-to-day work.
 
Learners work through the kinds of decisions that matter on site: recognising when exposure is too high, understanding what sound intensity information means in practice, comparing hearing protection options, and thinking through controls that reduce reliance on PPE alone. The goal is to give people a workable understanding they can use back in their own role, not just a set of definitions to remember for the day.
