This course is intended for people involved in operations and maintenance who need to carry out job safety analysis for new or existing tasks. It is also useful for supervisors, safety personnel, and anyone responsible for checking that hazards, controls, and safe work steps have been properly thought through before a job begins.
Job safety analysis training helps workers identify hazards, assess task risks, and plan work safely before work begins. While JSA training is not always prescribed as a mandatory course, workplaces still need people who can apply safe work planning processes effectively. Many clients, sites, and high-risk work environments also require workers to understand JSA processes as part of their safety expectations.
Yes, IMPAC recommends learners complete Workplace Risk Assessment (US 30265) first. Learners also need written and spoken English equivalent to NCEA Level 1 (Year 11) or an IELTS score of 5.5 or higher. If a learner may need additional support, please contact our team before enrolment to discuss available support options.
Most learners complete this pre-recorded webinar within approximately 1 day, including the assessment. Delivered online through IMPAC’s LMS, learners can complete the training at a pace that suits them.
Yes, this course includes one assessment for NZQA Unit Standard 19522, covering the application of job safety analysis processes used to identify hazards and manage worksite risks.
Learners who successfully complete the assessment can achieve NZQA Unit Standard 19522 and will also receive a Certificate of Competency from IMPAC.
IMPAC recommends refresher training at least every two years. NZQA unit standards do not expire from a learner’s Record of Achievement, but workplaces should ensure JSA capability remains current, especially where tasks, plant, or risks change.
