The first step to minimising the risks posed with working with or around asbestos is being asbestos aware. This course equips learners with the knowledge to identify materials containing asbestos, understand the health risks associated with asbestos exposure, and apply safe practices when working with or around asbestos-containing materials.
Learners practice using personal protective equipment (PPE) and asbestos abatement tools and procedures.
This training is delivered by Fibresafe an NZQA approved sub-contractor of IMPAC. The trainers at FibreSafe NZ are independent expert licensed asbestos assessors and provide IANZ accredited laboratory services and asbestos management consultancy. They were the first company in New Zealand to attain IANZ accreditation for asbestos sampling and the surveying of buildings.
