+IMPAC acquires MITA Consulting to strengthen safety training for New Zealand’s utilities sector

1 April, 2026  |  News

IMPAC Services (+IMPAC) is excited to announce another significant step toward its vision of becoming New Zealand’s leading health and safety company with global reach and the industry’s most satisfied people and customers, through the acquisition of MITA Consulting Ltd (MITA).

MITA is a NZQA-registered Private Training Establishment (PTE) that has been supporting the utility supply industry since 2011, with a particular focus on training for line mechanics, cable jointers, and live-line workers.

Bringing MITA into the +IMPAC group strengthens our ability to support the electricity supply industry with practical, competency-based training that keeps people safe and builds long-term capability.

Why MITA and +IMPAC are a natural fit

+IMPAC Managing Director, Logan Aves, says the acquisition represents a strong strategic alignment.

“Bringing another New Zealand family-owned business into +IMPAC is a valuable addition to our team. We have worked alongside MITA for a number of years and have been consistently impressed by their commitment to practical, competency-based outcomes that deliver real value to the sector. With our Safeworx team already well-established in supporting the utility industry, this acquisition creates a strong opportunity to deliver even more integrated solutions to our customers.”

Like +IMPAC, MITA has built its reputation on high-quality service delivery and a strong focus on real-world competence, not just ticking the box. That shared philosophy is at the heart of this partnership.

Who is MITA Consulting?

Established in 2011, MITA is a specialist training provider for the utility supply industry. As a NZQA-registered PTE, MITA focuses on:

  • Training line mechanics, cable jointers, and live-line workers.
  • Delivering practical, on-the-job competency outcomes.
  • Supporting employers to build and maintain the skills needed to operate safely and reliably.

For more than a decade, MITA has worked closely with electricity supply organisations to ensure their people are equipped for the realities of the work - often in challenging environments, and always with safety front of mind.

What this means for clients and learners

For MITA founders David and Janet Edgar, the partnership is about long-term growth and sustainability while protecting what has made MITA successful.

“This partnership positions MITA for continued growth. By aligning with +IMPAC, we gain access to broader resources, enhanced capabilities, and greater scale. This strengthens our ability to support our clients, expand our service offering, and continue delivering the high-quality training and expertise MITA is known for.”

For clients and learners, this move means:

  • Stronger, integrated support for the utilities sector – MITA's specialist training expertise, combined with +IMPAC and Safeworx, creates a broader, more connected offer.
  • Continuity of relationships – the MITA team, including its founders, will remain actively involved in the business.
  • Ongoing focus on practical competence – the shared commitment to competency-based outcomes remains central.

Leadership and next steps

MITA will continue to operate under the leadership of General Manager Mark Adams, with David and Janet Edgar remaining actively involved in the business and in supporting wider +IMPAC growth opportunities.

Day-to-day, it’s business as usual for clients and learners - with the added benefit of access to a wider range of services and support across the +IMPAC group.
