HOW IT WORKS - FOR MANAGER'S OF CONTRACTORS

If you are someone who needs to manage and assess contractors or if you are a business who employs contractors, the high level PREQUAL process is as follows.

STEP 1:  Initial communication to Contractors

Employers or managers of contractors advise their current (or potential) contractors that they need to undergo the PREQUAL contractor pre-qualification process.

STEP 2.  PREQUAL makes contact with contractors

PREQUAL sends letter and/or email to the senior contractor contact person explaining the process and directing them to the PREQUAL assessment website that has:

  • Detailed information on the process,
  • Common Q&As, and
  • The online pre-qualification tool.

STEP 3.  The Contractor completes the online assessment

This assessment involves the contractor:

  • Completing the online questionnaire,
  • Uploading all requested evidence.

This process differs depending on the type of Contractor and the nature of work they do.

STEP 4.  PREQUAL assesses the contractors’ submission

PREQUAL’s trained assessors review the contractor’s questionnaire and score the evidence.

STEP 5.  PREQUAL provides feedback to contractors

This step involves PREQUAL providing the contractor with details of their initial score and wider feedback.

The contractor is given one opportunity to resubmit evidence or provide additional evidence if they believe this can more strongly reflect their current capability (only if criteria is scored 0 or 1 out of 4).

PREQUAL reassesses contractor and allocates final assessment rating.

STEP 6.  Information to Employers or Managers of Contractors

The employer or manager of the contractor who initiated this process is notified that the assessment is complete and is directed to the assessment results on the PREQUAL website.

Other Employers or Managers of Contractors who have subscribed to the PREQUAL Service can view the contractor's assessment, but only if the contractor has authorised this.

If a contractor's pre-qualification status changes this information is notified to Employers or Managers who have subscribed to the service and are authorised to view the contractor's assessment.
