Objectives

Auditing health and safety systems

Organisations need to manage health and safety with the same degree of expertise and to the same standards as other core business activities, if they are to effectively control risks and prevent harm to people. It is important to understand the principles and management practices which provide the basis of effective health and safety management. All management systems should be assessed for continual improvement. This is achieved through systematic reviews of performance based on independent external and internal audits of the whole health and safety management system.

An internal health and safety auditor needs good knowledge of key New Zealand health and safety management standards. This course provides trainees with the knowledge and skills to become successful internal H&S auditors within their workplace.
