Trainees who complete this course will have knowledge and practical skills in the following areas:

The legislative and organisational health and safety requirements for engaging contractors to perform work on site

The relationship between the principal and contractors›› How to manage the use of contractors, including selection, planning, information sharing, monitoring and reviewing

The duties of persons in control of a place of work

The duties of hirers, sellers and suppliers of plant.

This course includes an off-course assessment.

Objectives

How do you comply with your duties as a PCBU under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015? How do you ensure contractors are complying with the law? What are the legal safety requirements with regards to plant design and modification? This course answers all these questions and more. From contractor assessment forms at the tender stage, assessing safety systems through to inductions, requirement to consult, co-operate, co-ordinate, on-site inspections, evaluation and plant design, this course uses scenario based activities to facilitate learning and gives practical solutions to some potentially difficult and costly problems.

This course is a must for all workers who manage or supervise contractors. Procurement and project workers should also attend this course to ensure they are complying with the law.
